Health & Wellness

Students are provided fresh food and water two times per week in order to reduce pack weight. Fresh fruit and vegetables are also provided several times throughout the week. Group meal plans are dietician-approved and low in sugar and processed foods. Typical ingredients include rice, beans, nuts, tuna, cheese, granola and oats, along with an assortment of fresh vegetables, fruits and meats. Vegetarian, vegan and other diets are also accommodated.

Clinical research shows that participation in physical activity leads to elevated moods, confidence, and holistic wellness. Wilderness students participate in daily hikes and backpacking as well as active games and work projects. Service projects focusing on wilderness restoration provide physical activity as well as a strong sense of accomplishment and personal satisfaction from selfless acts.
